This seemingly simple task plays a vital role in ensuring the perfect fit and a refined look of each pair of jeans. Fabrics are created by weaving warp and weft threads at right angles. Even though the fibers may seem to be straight vertically and horizontally, they can often be distorted during the manufacturing process or when folded. This is where ironing comes into play. Ironing helps correct these distortions and control shrinkage, smoothing out the fabric for a more beautiful finished product.
